October 6th, 2012 - Retirement party for Cpl. Richard Sedgwick. It will be at the Association Building, starting at 6:00pm. All are encouraged to attend and celebrate our brother officer as he moves forward with another venue in his life.

September 13th, 2012 - The TCMPA Grievance Committee will be meeting with Mayor Matt Doyle at 10:00am, for presentation of the greivance that was filed by Cpl. Carlos Alcocer.

September 6th, 2012 - General Membership Meeting to be held at the Association Building at 6:00pm. The following topics will be discussed:

  1. Educate the membership about their right to TCMPA Representative during Internal Affairs interviews (unnamed attorney)
  2. Contract extension. The Mayor has expressed interest in working on our contract and extending it for another two (2) years. Please bring any and all bargaining issues that you would like to see addressed for the next contract. These will be discussed, and a list created for bargaining (Neal Mora and Tom Barbee).
  3. Treasurer’s Report (Morris).
  4. TCMPA “Job Satisfaction Survey Committee” Update (Bjerke).
  5. Proposed Amendment to our Constitution “to vote the sitting TCMPA Grievance Committee in for each calendar year” (Johnston).
  6. Publication of approved amendment to go to ballot concerning returning members paying back-dues from the time they left the association to the time they return (Bjerke).
  7. Open Floor

August 31st, 2012 - TCMPA forwarded Cpl Carlos Alcocer's grievance to Mayor Matt Doyle at Step 5. (See Response Letter)

August 30th, 2012 - Attorney Bob Thomas sent a letter to DA Jack Roady, requesting that he approve all cgarges against police officers before they are formally charged with an offense.

August 24th, 2012 - The Survey Committee of the Texas City Municipal Police Association (TCMPA) has undertaken a confidential survey in an effort to measure the level of job satisfaction among members of the Texas City Police Department. There are 117 multiple choice and opinion questions that should take about 15 minutes. It is important to complete the entire survey in order to validate the results. There are no right or wrong answers. Your answers will be seen only by Professors Donna Ledgerwood and Michael Sexton from the University of North Texas. Responses will be coded and all findings will be reported so that no one can identify you.

August 23rd, 2012 - Patrolman Darren Allen has been found NOT GUILTY on the charge of Criminal Trespass of a Habitation by a jury of his peers. Please feel free to contact him on his cell phone. He is continuing to work with his attorney Michael Elliott and CLEAT on other charges that are pending. (See CLEAT Disclosure)

August 21st, 2012 - Cpl. Alcocer’s grievance was heard by the TCMPA Grievance Committee. By a three (3) to two (2) vote, the decision was made to move this grievance forward to STEP 4 in the Procedure.

August 15th, 2012 – Cpl. Carlos Alcocer was transferred from the Code Enforcement Unit, back to the Patrol Division.

August 13th,2012 – Cpl. Alcocer filed a grievance concerning his transfer alleging violations of ARTICLE III. Prevailing Rights and ARTICLE IV. Management Rights (See Cpl.Alcocer’s Grievance)
